What to Expect

Here's what will happen during your visit.

Health History Review

Complete review of past surgeries, medications, and medical conditions.

Vision and Hearing Tests

Verify you meet federal requirements for visual acuity (20/40) and hearing.

Blood Pressure and Pulse Check

Monitor cardiovascular health indicators. BP must be below 140/90 for 2-year certification.

Urinalysis

Checks for underlying health issues like diabetes, not a drug test.

Physical Exam

Covers heart, lungs, spine, limbs, and neurological function.

Certification

If passed, driver receives a Medical Examiner's Certificate (valid up to 2 years).

Common Disqualifiers

Be aware of these factors that may affect your results or clearance.

  • Uncontrolled blood pressure (above 140/90)
  • Vision worse than 20/40 in each eye (with or without correction)
  • Insulin-dependent diabetes without proper documentation
