What This Page Is For

You are receiving this information because an employer has selected your clinic to perform occupational health services through the BlueHive platform. This page outlines what to expect, how the process works, and what is required from your team.

BlueHive is a digital marketplace that connects employers with occupational health providers for services such as drug testing, physical examinations, and compliance screenings. Employers submit orders through BlueHive, and those orders are routed directly to your clinic.

Some employers use BlueHive through our sister company, Enterprise Health, which adds additional workflow automation including automatic appointment confirmations, employee portal questionnaires, and RMO clearance reviews. If your orders are coming from an Enterprise Health customer, the provider experience is the same — you will still receive, complete, and upload results through the BlueHive provider portal.

This page is employer-agnostic. The process described here applies to all enterprise orders you receive through BlueHive, regardless of which employer placed the order.

How You Will Receive Orders

When an employer places an order for your clinic, you will be notified in one or more of the following ways:

  • Push notification in the BlueHive provider portal (recommended — enable notifications to respond fastest)
  • Email notification to the address on file for your clinic
  • Dashboard alert inside the BlueHive provider portal at provider.bluehive.com
  • Fax to the fax number on file (US-based clinics only — fax is not available for international providers)

Each notification includes the patient name, the services requested, and any employer-specific instructions. Make sure your contact details are up to date in your provider portal so you do not miss incoming orders. If you receive an order by fax, every fax includes a unique tracking barcode so results can be properly routed back to the correct order — even if the provider does not use the portal.

How to Complete an Order

The recommended way to complete orders is through the BlueHive provider portal. Setting up your portal account takes about five minutes and gives you real-time order tracking, push notifications, digital scheduling, and secure result uploads — all in one place. It makes the entire process faster and easier for your clinic and the employer.

Watch this walkthrough to see the full order process in action:

Provider & SPA Order Process

  1. 1

Log in to the Provider Portal

Visit provider.bluehive.com and sign in with your clinic credentials. Navigate to your open orders.

  2. 2

    Review the Order Details

Verify the patient information, the services requested, and any employer-specific instructions or requirements.

  3. 3

    Contact the Patient and Schedule

Reach out to the patient to schedule an appointment. Once confirmed, update the appointment date and time in the portal so the employer can track status.

  4. 4

    Perform the Services

Complete the requested tests, exams, or screenings. Mark each service as completed in the portal as you go.

  5. 5

    Upload Results

Once results are available, upload them directly through the portal. You can upload PDFs or take a photo directly from your mobile phone — the portal is fully mobile-friendly. Results are delivered securely to the ordering employer.

  6. 6

    Receive Payment

Payment is processed through BlueHive after the order is completed. Set up your payment information in the provider portal to ensure timely disbursement.

Secondary option: If you are unable to use the portal, you can navigate to bluehive.com/spa and enter the order code and patient information from the fax or email. The SPA does not require an account and works on any device. However, we strongly recommend setting up your portal account — it unlocks push notifications, order history, payment tracking, and other tools that save your clinic time.

Sending Results Without an Active Order

In some cases, you may need to submit results to an employer even if you did not receive a formal order through BlueHive. This can happen when a walk-in patient brings paperwork from their employer, or when results were completed outside the normal ordering workflow.

You can submit unsolicited results through the same BlueHive SPA at bluehive.com/spa. No account is required.

  1. 1

    Go to bluehive.com/spa

Navigate to bluehive.com/spa and select "Unsolicited Upload." Enter the employer's company code to get started. This code is typically provided on the order paperwork or by the employer directly.

  2. 2

    Enter Patient Information

Provide the patient's first name, last name, and date of birth so the document can be properly routed to the correct employer.

  3. 3

    Upload the Result

Upload a PDF of the completed result, or take a photo directly from your mobile phone. The portal is mobile-friendly and works on any device.

The unsolicited upload portal is a convenience for edge cases. For the best experience — including order tracking, push notifications, payment management, and scheduling tools — we recommend creating a free provider portal account.

What Is Required From Providers

To fulfill enterprise orders through BlueHive, your clinic must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid state licenses for the services you perform
  • For DOT services, FMCSA-certified medical examiners and SAMHSA-accredited laboratories
  • Accurate and up-to-date clinic profile (hours, services offered, contact information)
  • Timely response to incoming orders — contact the patient within one business day
  • Secure upload of results through the portal or SPA (do not send results via unencrypted email)
  • Compliance with BlueHive's turnaround-time and quality standards

If your clinic does not yet have a BlueHive account, you can create one at no cost. See the Getting Started section below.
