GHS Hazard Communication Label Elements Poster

A single-page wall reference for the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS, 29 CFR 1910.1200) aligned with the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS). All six label elements that must appear on every hazardous-chemical container shipped or used in U.S. workplaces: product identifier matching the SDS, signal word (Danger or Warning), standardized hazard statements, one or more of the 9 GHS pictograms (red diamond on white), precautionary statements covering prevention/response/storage/disposal, and supplier identification. Each element cites the exact 1910.1200(f) subsection so the poster doubles as employee HazCom training documentation. HazCom consistently ranks #2 on OSHA’s annual Top 10 most-cited standards.

What’s inside

  • All six OSHA-required GHS label elements — product identifier, signal word, hazard statements, pictograms, precautionary statements, supplier identification.
  • Every element cites the exact 29 CFR 1910.1200(f) subsection so the poster doubles as employee HazCom training documentation.
  • Names all 9 GHS pictograms (health hazard, flame, flame over circle, exclamation mark, gas cylinder, corrosion, exploding bomb, skull & crossbones, environment).
  • Clarifies the single-signal-word rule — most severe applicable category wins, even with multiple hazards.
  • Sized for chemical storage rooms, labs, paint shops, janitorial closets, and any workplace with hazardous chemicals on standard 8.5×11 paper.

How to use this printable

  1. 1

    Hang where the hazard happens

Post near loading docks, outdoor break areas, or wherever the risk shows up — not just the HR office.

  2. 2

    Laminate for jobsite use

High-contrast type and bold hex callouts stay readable under glare and laminate sheets.

  3. 3

    Refresh seasonally

Rotate heat-illness posters in spring, cold-stress in fall — fresh signage reads more than stale signage.
