The state of Arizona is often associated with the Grand Canyon, the desert, neighboring Mexico, and heat. Although the desert is a large part of Arizona, cities such as Phoenix and Scottsdale are quite urban. These facts alone make it easy to see why the most common jobs in the state include engineers, air conditioning technicians as well as interpreters.1
When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Arizona, it’s one of twenty-two states/territories that have OSHA-approved State Plans that covers private and state and local government workplaces.2 The OSHA approved plan for the state of Arizona is called ADOSH (Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health); ADOSH is also a part of the ICA (Industrial Commission of Arizona). One thing Arizona’s plan accommodates for that isn’t a part of many other states’ plans is Indian reservations. ADOSH is located in two main offices – one in Phoenix and the other in Tucson.
